We offer two types of herbal luncheons: luncheons for groups of 10 or more or, for smaller numbers, our Gourmet Boardinghouse Luncheons with Mini-Workshops. The food is superb as Madeline draws on her training in classical French cuisine, more than 30 years of experience hosting diplomatic dinners and receptions, and nine years as the Executive Chef at Willow Pond Farm. She combines the best of traditional American and classical French fare with both the delicate and robust flavors of herbs to produce dishes such as gingered carrot soup with sage, grilled rosemary chicken, and cherry-lavender clafouti with lavender crème anglaise. Recipes are always provided and our shop is always open to diners.
Group Luncheons
Group luncheons are designed for garden clubs, homemaker groups, Red Hat Societies, or any group of 10 or more. If weather allows, we start at 11:00 a.m. with a garden tour followed at noon by lunch on the patio. In cool or inclement weather, we move indoors and begin at noon with appetizers in our living room. The all-herbal meal includes an outstanding appetizer, soup, salad, main course, and dessert. After lunch, a meeting can be held, or we can offer a lecture on some aspect of herb culture or use. The cost for group luncheons is $25 per person.
Gourmet Boardinghouse Luncheons
Spring and Summer Boardinghouse Lunches
Drawing on her culinary training in Paris, 32 years of diplomatic receptions and dinners, and more than ten years as Willow Pond Farm's Executive Chef, Madeline creates superb meals drawing on the farm's bounty and seasonal ingredients. At these luncheons, guests will enjoy herbal appetizers, soup, main course, salad, and dessert followed by a mini-workshop. At the spring luncheons—May 15, 16, 28, and 29—growing and using fresh herbs will be emphasized in the after-lunch workshop. The summer and early fall luncheons will be followed by a talk on harvesting and preserving.
Boardinghouse Luncheons begin at noon (though you can come earlier if you’d like a tour of the gardens) and end around 2:30. Bring a friend or co-worker, or even your husband, and plan on a thoroughly delectable meal and an enjoyable day at Willow Pond Farm. Reservations with payment are a must. The fee is $25.00.
