L. angustifolia
The angustifolias (sometimes called English lavenders) are among the most lovely and fragrant. They number some 300 varieties, including old favorites such as Hidcote and Munstead and new varieties such as Willow Pond Farm's exclusive Madeline Marie, Two Amys, and Rebecca Kay.
The angustifolias are the hardiest lavender species. Typically, they grow to be 18-24 inches high and wide, although some varieties (Thumbelina Leigh and Dwarf Blue, for example) grow about half that size and make good patio planters.
